Use the silent alarm

Alert security without any sound from your phone.

Updated 3 November 2026

The silent alarm sends the same alert as an SOS, but is meant for situations where making a sound would put you at risk.

  1. On the Home screen, switch on Silent alarm ("Alerts security without sound").
  2. Slide the SOS bar as usual. The alert is sent as a silent alarm.

Campus security sees it labelled Silent alarm on their dashboard, with your live location and details, exactly like an SOS.

If you have turned on the voice clip, about 15 seconds of sound is recorded and sent with the alert. Your phone still shows its microphone indicator while it does.

Tips

  • Switch it on before you might need it. Fumbling with settings in a tense moment is the last thing you want.
  • Remember to switch it back off when you no longer need it, or your next alert will also be silent.
  • You can cancel a silent alarm just like an SOS. See Cancel an alert.
